Our story

She had changed. Her bras had not.

ShapeChic began with a familiar frustration: once comfort became non-negotiable, the lingerie aisle still seemed to offer a choice between feeling supported and feeling like yourself.

The woman at the heart of ShapeChic

After 40, “good enough” stopped being good enough.

She had worn bras for most of her life without thinking too much about them. Then, somewhere after 40, her body began asking different questions. Why did support have to mean a wire pressing into her ribs? Why did a comfortable bra flatten the shape she still loved? Why did the back band create a ridge beneath the clothes that otherwise made her feel confident?

She tried the fitting-room advice. She measured again. She bought the serious bra, the pretty bra, the “miracle” bra, and the soft one that offered almost no support at all. By the end of the day, each one had become something to endure. The first thing she did at home was reach behind her back and take it off.

One evening, tired of choosing between comfort and confidence, she wrote down what she actually wanted: no wire, no hard clasps, straps that shared the weight, a back that lay more smoothly under clothes, and enough beauty to feel like she had chosen the bra—not surrendered to it.

That simple list became ShapeChic’s starting point. Not a promise to turn back time. Not another message telling women their bodies needed fixing. A better brief: create everyday foundations for the body a woman has now, and make them comfortable enough for the life she is busy living.

“I did not want to look twenty again. I wanted to feel comfortable and confident as the woman I had become.”

How the idea grew

From one frustrating bra drawer to a clearer standard.

Chapter one

Listen to the real complaint

Women were not asking to be made smaller, younger, or different. They were asking for pressure to be spread more gently and support to feel less mechanical.

Chapter two

Redefine support

Support can come from wide straps, flexible panels, thoughtful coverage, and stretch—not only from rigid wire and narrow bands.

Chapter three

Design for the whole day

The real test is not the first minute in front of a mirror. It is the desk, the errands, dinner, travel, and how you feel at the end of it all.

Chapter four

Flatter, never “fix”

A smoother line can help clothes sit beautifully. But confidence starts with respect for the woman wearing them, exactly as she is.
