Summer Comfort Report
That red rash under your bust isn't the heat's fault. It's the wire you strap on every summer.
If the skin under your bust line goes red, raw and stinging, if your straps glue themselves to your shoulders and leave grooves you can still see in the mirror, or if you've already tried powder, a bigger size and a cheap crop top, read this before you decide summer just means suffering in your bra.

It's 36°C, the verandah boards are hot underfoot and you're holding your blouse away from your chest just to get some air under there. The underwire has slid into the damp fold beneath your bust and it's rubbing. When the bra finally comes off, there's a red, angry line exactly where the wire sat.
You've done the sensible things. Talc under the bust. Going up a size. Swapping to a cheap stretchy crop top from Kmart that gave you no shape at all. Every one of them should have helped, and none of them did.
So what is actually causing the rash, the grooves and that rip-it-off feeling, and why does every fix fail the moment summer hits?

The rash lands exactly where the wire sits, every time
Look closely next time. The red isn't spread across your chest. It follows a neat curve under each breast, the same shape as the wire.
Then there's the shoulders. Two shiny dents where thin straps have been carrying the full weight of your bust, stuck to sweaty skin, sawing back and forth every time you reach for the tongs or lift a grandchild.
You're not imagining it, and it isn't because your skin has gone sensitive since 50. It's the same pattern, in the same places, every hot spell. That pattern is the clue.
Powder, bigger sizes and crop tops all miss the real problem
Talc soaks up a bit of sweat and then turns into a paste in the crease. Going up a size just lets the wire slide around and rub harder. The soft crop top stops the digging, but now your bust sits low, spills at the sides and your sleeveless top hangs like a tent.
Each fix treats the sweat. None of them touches the thing pressing into the sweat.
A metal wire is a hard edge pushed into the warmest, dampest fold you have. In a Melbourne winter you can live with it. In a Brisbane summer, every step drags that edge across wet skin. That's the rash, the stinging, and the moment you get home and unhook it before you've even put your handbag down.

Lift doesn't have to come from one hard line
An underwire lifts by concentrating all your weight onto one thin strip of metal under each breast, and onto two narrow straps over your shoulders. Small contact area, big pressure, trapped heat. That's the whole recipe for grooves and rash.
The alternative is to spread the job out. Wide fabric under and around the bust shares the lift across far more skin, so no single line presses in. Wide cushioned straps share the load across your shoulders instead of slicing into them.
Spread the weight, lose the wire, and there's no hot ridge left for the sweat to collect against. Air moves through the fabric instead of pooling against metal. Same lift, completely different feeling on your skin.

The ShapeChic Original pulls on like a vest and lifts without wire
The ShapeChic™ Original Bra is built exactly on that principle. No wire. No hooks, no clasps digging into your back. You pull it on over your head like a vest, and it settles into place.
The wide cushioned straps spread the weight so they sit flat instead of carving grooves. The full sides gather the spill under your arms and bring it forward. One wide, smooth back panel flattens back rolls, so your tops skim instead of cling. Lace cups give you shape that actually looks pretty, and breathable fabric lets the heat out.
The lift comes from the whole bra working together, not one metal strip under your bust. Sizes S to 4XL, in seven colours.

What changes the first hot week you wear it
Women who switch notice the shoulders first. No more sticky, shiny dents. The cushioned straps sit wide and flat, and nothing slides off when you reach up for the top shelf.
Then the crease under the bust. With no wire wedged in there, it stops stinging. The skin gets a chance to calm down instead of being rubbed raw again.
And then the mirror. The full sides pull the spill forward, the back panel smooths the rolls, and the lace cups hold you higher. A lifted bust and a smooth back make you look up to two dress sizes smaller in the same top. You stand taller because nothing is dragging you down.

Back at the barbie in a sleeveless top, not hiding
Picture the beach barbecue. Salt in the air, sausages on, everyone in thongs. Last summer you'd have worn a cardigan over everything to hide the straps and the rolls, and spent the whole time tugging the wire off your ribs.
This time it's the sleeveless top. Arms out. Leaning over the esky, laughing, holding a cold drink without thinking about what's going on underneath.
That's what you get back: forgetting you're wearing a bra at all. Not counting down until you can take it off. Just feeling like yourself again, in the heat, around the people you love.

Don't spend another summer rubbed raw by a wire
Go back to that verandah. The fanning, the damp blouse, the red curve under your bust. Nothing about that changes while the wire stays in your drawer.

What People Are Saying
“Honestly I'd given up on summer bras. The rash under my boobs was that bad I was putting nappy cream on it. Wore this through that horrible hot week and it just... didn't happen. No wire, no rash. Bought more.”
“Pulls on like a singlet which took me a minute to get used to. My shoulders don't have those dents anymore.”
“I'm a 4XL and was sure it wouldn't hold me up. It does. Not quite as high as my old wire one but I'll take that over being rubbed raw any day. The back is lovely and smooth.”
“Took about two weeks to arrive, tracked the whole way. Wore the nude one under a white linen top to my niece's engagement and my sister asked if I'd lost weight. I hadn't!”
“No more side boob poking out of my sleeveless tops. That was the thing that got me. Comfy too.”

Does it actually stay cool though? Up here it's like a sauna.
Denise I'm in Mildura most summers and it's way better than my old ones. The lace bits breathe. No wire is the big thing.
I was worried pulling it over my head would be hard with my shoulder but it's stretchy enough, no dramas.
Ordered a size up on the chart and sent one back, the return was easy. Right size now and it's great.
Grooves on my shoulders gone after about a week. Didn't realise how much those thin straps were hurting.
Not a push-up miracle if that's what you're after, but for comfort and smoothing the back it's the best I've had.
