Weight loss and your bust
Your bra isn't the wrong size. You've lost the weight, your bust has changed shape, and rigid cups can't follow it.
If you've dropped stones and your bust now sits flat, low and empty inside cups that gape, if you keep hoiking straps back onto your shoulders through every fitted top, or if you've gone down two sizes and still see a hollow dent above the lace, read this before you decide this is just your body now.

You've done the hard part. The old jeans swamp you, people at the school gates keep saying how well you look, and you've finally stopped hiding in long cardigans. Then you put on a fitted top and catch yourself side-on in the mirror.
So you did the sensible thing. You tightened the straps, went down a cup size, then another, and tried the padded ones from the high street that promised lift. Each one should have worked, because each one was smaller than the last.
This article explains why the bust is the first place weight loss empties out, why smaller rigid bras keep gaping anyway, and what kind of construction actually lifts a bust that has changed shape.

The jeans are two sizes smaller. Your bra hasn't noticed.
The weight came off your face, your tummy, your thighs. You can see it in the photos. But your bust didn't just shrink. It went soft, flat and low, like the air has been let out.
Now the top of every cup stands away from you. There's a gap you can fit two fingers into. Under a fitted top it shows as a crumpled ridge, or a hollow dent where your bust used to fill the lace.
The straps slide off. The band rides up your back. You spend the school run tugging, and every reflection in a shop window reminds you.
It's not vanity. You worked for this body and the one thing that should finish the outfit keeps letting you down.
Why going down a cup size made the gaping worse
Smaller should mean snugger. That's what anyone would think, and it's what most fitting rooms tell you.
So you went down. The new cup still gaped at the top, but now the wire dug into the side of your ribs and left a red line you could still see when you got changed. Padded ones were worse: a stiff shell with your bust sitting loose at the bottom of it.
Every bra you tried had the same problem. A moulded cup and an underwire hold a fixed shape, and your bust no longer has that shape. It isn't round and full any more. It's softer and lower, so a rigid cup only ever touches you at the bottom and leaves the rest hollow.
None of that is your fault. The bras were built for the body you had before.

Weight loss empties the bust first. The skin stays.
A large share of your bust is fat, so when the weight goes, the bust loses volume fast. The skin and tissue that held it don't shrink back at the same speed. What's left is softer, lower and flatter at the top.
That changes what a bra has to do. It doesn't need to hold a shape. It needs to make one.
A stretch cup closes around whatever volume is there, so nothing gapes, and a wide band underneath lifts it from below. No wire pressing in at the sides, no stiff shell standing away. The fabric hugs, gathers and pushes up.
That's the whole difference. Rigid cups wait for you to fill them. Stretch cups fit the bust you have now and put it back where it belongs.
Rigid cups wait for you to fill them. Stretch cups fit the bust you have now.

The ShapeChic Original Bra: it pulls on like a vest and lifts
The ShapeChic Original Bra has no hooks and no clasps. You pull it over your head like a vest, and the stretch lace cups settle around your bust instead of sitting in front of it.
The lift is wire-free. It comes from the wide band underneath, which supports your bust from below so it sits higher and rounder. Nothing digs into your ribs.
The wide cushioned straps spread the weight across your shoulders, so they stay put and leave no grooves. The full sides gather the soft spill under your arms and bring it forward into the cup, which is exactly where a softer bust needs the help.
At the back, one wide smooth panel lies flat, so there's no band riding up and no rolls bulging over it.

What you'll see in the mirror the first time
Put on the fitted top that's been sitting at the back of the wardrobe. Turn side-on.
The gap at the top of the cup is gone, because the lace closes around you. The dent above the neckline is gone too. Your bust sits higher, rounder and level, and the top skims over it in one smooth line instead of crumpling.
Lift your arms. The straps don't slide. Reach for the top shelf. The band doesn't ride up. Look over your shoulder. One smooth panel, no bulge over the band.
Take it off and check your skin. No red line under your bust, no grooves on your shoulders.
It comes in sizes S to 4XL and seven colours, so you can get one in black, one in nude and one for under white tops.
The gap is gone because the cup closes around you.

The fitted tops you bought for your new body finally look right
This is what the weight loss was for. Not a number on the scales. Walking into the school playground in a fitted top and not tugging at it once.
When your bust sits high, your waist shows. You look two dress sizes smaller, because everything below the lift is visible at last. You stand taller without thinking about it.
No fiddling with straps in the queue at the chemist. No arms folded across your chest in the photos. You look in the mirror and see the body you worked for, finished properly.
That's the bit you've been missing. Not a new body. Just a bra that fits the one you've got.

Stop paying for bras built for the body you left behind
Every week you keep the old bras, the fitted tops stay in the wardrobe and the cardigan stays on. You've done the hard work. The gaping cups are the last thing standing between you and how you should look.

What People Are Saying
“Lost nearly four stone and honestly my boobs just went. Like empty socks. Every bra gaped no matter what size. This one actually hugs them and pushes them up. I cried a bit, not going to lie.”
“No clasps is the bit I love. Over the head and done. Straps don't fall off.”
“Was sceptical because it's not wired but the lift is better than my wired ones were. Wore it under a fitted dress to my niece's christening and my sister asked if I'd had something done!”
“Back panel is brilliant, no more bulge over the band. Arrived in 9 days, well packed. Sized up to a XL and it's spot on.”
“I'd given up and was just wearing crop tops from the supermarket. Bought the three in black, nude and the pink. Wish I'd found it sooner.”

Does it work if you're still losing? I'm on the jabs and still going down.
@Hayley I'm the same. The stretch means it's still fitting me a stone later. Just went one size down.
Worried no wire = no lift but it really does lift. Mine are properly saggy after losing 5 stone.
Is the lace itchy? I can't stand scratchy bras.
@Fiona not at all, it's soft. I forget I've got it on.
Tracking came through fine, took 11 days. Got the 6 so I've one for every wash. Fitted tops are back on.
