Fit & Support
Your bra probably isn't the wrong size. The real problem is the tight band around your ribs doing all the lifting.
If you peel off your bra at night to red grooves across your ribs and shoulders, if you spend the afternoon tugging a strap back up, or if you've already swapped underwire for bralettes and sports bras and still feel squeezed or saggy, read this before you decide comfort just isn't possible at your age.

Diane Mercer has measured women in fitting rooms for almost thirty years. She can usually tell what's wrong before the tape comes out. It's in the shoulders hunched forward, and in the hand that keeps reaching back to pull the band down.
Most of the women she sees have done everything right. They got measured, they went up a cup, they tried the soft bralette and the sports bra their daughter swore by. It made sense to think one of those would finally work.
So why do 8 out of 10 women still end up in the wrong bra, and what does Diane tell them to wear instead?

The ache shows up long before the bra comes off
It starts small. A strap slips at your desk and you hook it back up. By lunch there's a dull ache between your shoulder blades.
By the drive home, you're counting the minutes until you can unhook the thing in the kitchen and breathe all the way out. Then you see the marks: a red line around your ribs, two dents in your shoulders.
"Women tell me this like it's a personal failing," Diane says. "It isn't your body. It's what the bra is built to do to it."
Underwire, bralettes, sports bras: they all fail the same way
Underwire digs in under the bust and leaves the ache. So you switch to a bralette. It's soft, but there's no lift and no shape, and your top hangs flat.
The sports bra squashes everything into one shelf and traps sweat. The cami with a shelf bra looked smart, until the cups slid sideways and bunched up by noon.
Every one of them still leans on a band around your ribs to hold you up. Make it tighter and it digs. Make it looser and you sag. That's not a sizing mistake. It's the design.

Take the band away and spread the weight onto your shoulders
Here's what Diane explains with a tape measure in her hand. A traditional bra puts most of the work on a few inches of elastic pulling across your back. That's where the digging, the back bulge and the ache come from.
Move the support into padded cups, carry it on wide straps, and let a stretch knit body hold everything close, and the band has nothing left to do.
Straps about 3 to 4 centimeters wide, roughly an inch and a half, spread the load across your shoulders instead of cutting into one spot. The knit smooths over your ribs and back instead of squeezing a line into them.
No band. No hooks. No wire. The lift comes from the cups and the straps.

The ShapeChic Comfort Bra Tank: the bra is sewn into the top
It looks like a simple scoop-neck tank. That's the point. Inside are padded cups stitched in place, and you can lift the edge to see the removable pad. There's no separate bra underneath and no strap peeking out.
The straps are wide and soft. There's no band, no hooks and no wire anywhere. The contoured stretch knit smooths your middle and back and tucks neatly into high-waisted jeans, pants or a skirt.
Pull it on over your head and you're dressed and supported in one step. Throw a cardigan over it and you're out the door. It comes in Nude, Black, White, Gray and Blush Pink, sizes S to 3XL.

What happens when you wear it for a full day
Diane puts it simply: check your skin at night. In an underwire bra, you get grooves under the bust and across the back. In the tank, the wide straps leave no dents and there's no band to leave a line.
Under a fitted T-shirt or knit top, the smoothing knit means no back bulge and no bra lines. The cups stay put because they're sewn into the body of the tank, not floating on a thin shelf.
Over 134,914 women have already made the swap, and most say the same thing: they forgot they were wearing it.

You stop thinking about your bra at all
You sit through a long meeting without shifting in your chair. You lift the grocery bags and nothing digs. You reach up to a high shelf and your top stays where it should.
At the end of the day there's no rush to get it off. No red marks. No sore shoulders.
You get through the whole day feeling held up, without ever feeling squeezed. That's what Diane wants for every woman who walks into her fitting room tired of fighting her underwear.

Don't settle for red marks as the price of support
Go back to that moment in the kitchen when you unhook your bra and finally breathe out. You don't have to live for that moment.

What People Are Saying
“I've worn underwire since high school. I honestly didn't know my shoulders could not hurt. First day in this I kept checking the mirror for straps and there just weren't any.”
“Bought the black one under a cardigan for work. No lines on my back at all. Ordered the white and the blush the next week.”
“I'm a 38DD and figured it'd be like a shelf bra, flat and useless. It's not. The cups are actually padded and they don't move around. Size up if you're between sizes, that's my one tip.”
“Took about 12 business days to get here, came tracked and well packed. Wore it to a wedding under a dress jacket. Danced all night. No digging.”
“Comfy!! the wide straps are the thing. gray is my favorite.”

Does it actually hold up a bigger bust or is it just a fancy cami?
@Sharon I'm a 40D and it holds better than my sports bra did. The straps are what does it.
Can you take the pads out to wash it? Mine always get lumpy in other tanks.
Bought 3 in the bundle. Wearing the nude one under a white blouse today and you can't see anything.
Mine took about two and a half weeks to arrive but it was tracked the whole way. Worth the wait honestly.
Hot flashes and sports bras are a terrible combo. This one doesn't trap heat the same way. Big difference.
