Every week a woman sits down in my fitting room, points at her chest and says: “I’m done with underwire. But if I go wire-free, I’ll be down at my waist.” For most of the last decade, she was right. The wire-free bras made for DD and up are mostly soft, stretchy and useless: they feel fine on the hanger and let a heavy bust settle lower with every step.
The problem is physics. A G cup is heavy, and a bit of stretch fabric can’t hold that weight up against gravity for long. Even the wire-free bras that look supportive in the fitting room stretch out after a few hours, and the bust drops right back down.
So we measured lift twice. We put 18 popular wire-free bras on 33 women from DD to G, aged 42 to 70. We measured bust height with a fitter’s tape: braless, then in every bra at fitting, then again after eight hours of real wear. Each tester wore every finalist for at least four full days.
Most bras lifted under an inch and lost a big chunk of it within hours. One lifted 1.7 inches on average and was still holding 1.6 inches after eight hours.
How we measured lift
Every finalist was worn for at least four full days per tester and scored out of 10. Lift was measured, not guessed.
Measured lift
Shoulder-to-nipple distance braless vs. in the bra, with a fitter’s tape, on every tester.
Lift that lasts
We measured again after eight hours of wear. Bras that stretched out and let the bust drop lost points.
All-day comfort
Strap grooves, band roll-up, heat and rubbing, logged after every full day of wear.

ShapeChic™ Lifting Jelly Bra
Best for: underwire-level lift on DD to G, with no wire at all

The ShapeChic Lifting Jelly Bra lifted our DD to G testers an average of 1.7 inches, more than double the next wire-free bra. After eight hours, it was still holding 1.6.
The difference is what does the lifting. Instead of relying on stretch fabric, it has patented, medical-grade silicone jelly strips built into the cups. They hold a heavy bust up and in the way a wire would, but flex softly with your body. Stretch fabric gives way under a heavy bust; the jelly strips don’t, which is why the lift was still there when we measured again.
In a fitted white T-shirt, testers looked transformed: bust high and rounded, waist visible again, and that low, heavy “tent” gone. Several said they looked ten years younger in profile, and most said they looked slimmer from every angle. “I haven’t sat this high since my thirties, and I can’t feel a thing,” one 40G tester told us.
Comfort was just as strong. With no wire, there’s nothing to dig into your ribs. The wide, four-way-stretch back band lies flat without rolling up, the padded straps adjust without grooving your shoulders, and the perforated mesh cups stay cool. Seamless, laser-bonded edges mean nothing shows under knits.
Sizes run 34DD to 44G (M to 5XL) in six colours. With Buy 1, Get 1 Free today, you get two for about half the price of one Knix, and the strongest wire-free lift we’ve ever measured.
“I’ve worn underwire since I was fourteen because nothing else held me. This lifts me higher, it stays put all day, and there’s no wire to dig in.”

Glamorise MagicLift Wire-Free Bra
Best for: secure full coverage in larger cups

Glamorise’s MagicLift was the second-best lifter at 0.8 inches at fitting, and its wide straps and full coverage feel secure on a heavy bust.
It lost ground as the hours went by, dropping to 0.5 inches after eight hours. Testers also found the shape pointed and dated under T-shirts, and the bulk showed through knits.
What we loved
- Second-best lift at fitting
- Secure, full coverage
- Wide straps
Where it fell short
- Dropped to 0.5 in after eight hours
- Pointed, dated shape under tees
- Bulky under knits
Bottom line: Supportive at first, but less than half the lift of our #1, and it fades.
Compare with our #1 pickPlaytex 18 Hour Ultimate Lift & Support Wireless Bra
Best for: familiar full coverage

The Playtex 18 Hour Ultimate Lift lifted 0.7 inches at fitting, with the firm side panels and wide straps our testers knew well.
After eight hours it was down to 0.4 inches, the band rolled up on several of our G cups, and the shape was more “held” than lifted.
What we loved
- Decent lift at fitting
- Wide straps
- Easy to find in stores
Where it fell short
- Faded to 0.4 in after eight hours
- Band rolled up on several G cups
- Flattened rather than lifted shape
Bottom line: Reliable support, but it can’t hold a heavy bust high for long.
Compare with our #1 pickKnix WingWoman Contour Bra
Best for: a sleek look on the smaller end of DD

The Knix WingWoman has smooth, modern moulded cups and was one of the most comfortable bras in the test.
On our fuller testers, though, it shaped more than it lifted: 0.5 inches at fitting, 0.3 after eight hours. And at around $68 for one bra, it’s the priciest pick here.
What we loved
- Smooth moulded cups
- Very comfortable
- Modern look
Where it fell short
- Shapes more than it lifts on DD+
- Lift faded to 0.3 in
- Around $68 for one bra
Bottom line: Lovely to wear, but not the answer for a heavy bust that needs lifting.
Compare with our #1 pickBali Comfort Revolution ComfortFlex Fit Wireless Bra
Best for: lounging at home

Bali’s Comfort Revolution is soft, stretchy and easy to pull on, and testers loved it on the sofa.
For DD and up it barely lifts: 0.2 inches at fitting and almost nothing left after eight hours. The bust sat low and wide under T-shirts.
What we loved
- Very soft
- No hooks
- Affordable
Where it fell short
- Barely lifts: 0.2 in
- Almost no lift left after eight hours
- Low, wide shape under tees
Bottom line: Comfortable, but it lets a full bust sag.
Compare with our #1 pickHow to pick a wireless bra that lifts a DD+ bust
Five things that decide whether a wire-free bra lifts a full bust or just covers it.
Look for a real lift structure
Stretch fabric alone can’t hold a heavy bust up. Built-in lift strips do the job a wire does, without the metal.
Test it twice
Any bra looks good in the fitting room. Wear it for a full day and check the mirror again. If you’ve dropped, it’s stretched out.
The band must anchor, not roll
A wide back band that lies flat gives the lift something to pull against. A thin band rolls up and takes the lift with it.
Straps steady, they don’t carry
If your straps groove, they’re carrying the weight. Padded, adjustable straps should fine-tune, not hold you up.
Measure it
Shoulder to nipple, braless and then in the bra. On a DD+ bust, anything under an inch isn’t really lifting you.
What DD+ women say about wire-free lift
From ShapeChic’s verified buyers (4.9 out of 5 from 14,457 reviews) and our own testers.
Wire-free and actually lifted
I’m a 40G and every wireless bra let me sag. These jelly strips hold me up higher than my underwire did. I can’t believe it.
Still lifted after a long day
My old soft bras stretched out within hours. This one is just as lifted when I take it off as when I put it on.
Goodbye underwire
Forty years of wire digging into my ribs. Now nothing digs and I’m lifted. I threw the old ones out.
I look ten years younger
Side-on in a T-shirt, my bust sits where it did in my thirties. My sister asked what I’d had done.
Cool and comfortable
The mesh cups breathe and the straps don’t dig into my shoulders. I wear it every day.
Two for the price of one
Bought the deal in Skin and Green. Cheaper than one bra at the department store, and so much better.

Our verdict: the best wireless bra for DD+

We measured twice, and the numbers weren’t close. The ShapeChic Lifting Jelly Bra lifted our DD to G testers 1.7 inches on average, more than double any other wire-free bra. Eight hours later, it was still holding 1.6 inches.
If you’ve stayed in underwire because wire-free always meant sagging, take the wire out. This one lifts like an underwire and holds you there all day.
